Q: What is "CSA"?
A: CSA stands for "Community-Supported Agriculture." It's a partnership between a farm and its community. CSA members pay a subscription fee at the beginning of the growing season, which the farm then uses to buy seeds and supplies. In return, the farm harvests “the cream of the crop” for members and delivers it each week to a pick-up location. The CSA model creates a direct connection between farmers and eaters.
Q: When is the CSA Season?
A: Our CSA Season is November 17th - April 12th.
Q: What is the cost to join the CSA?
A: Full Season Subscription= 22 Weeks of Boxes @ $557.70
Half-season/Biweekly Subscription = 11 Weeks of boxes @ $306.35
Month Subscription = 4 Weeks of Boxes @ $116.40
Bundle Boxes can also be purchased without a CSA membership @ $30.35
Q: When and where do I pick up my box?
A: Our delivery day is Wednesdays and the time depends on your pickup location selection. Check out our options here. We are still looking for a Wednesday morning location near downtown Sarasota, and will update our website reflect the detail as soon as we have them.
Q: What if I need to change my pickup location?
A: Each week when you put in you bundle box order you will be able to select which pickup location you would like. so you can change if you need to.
Q: How does the CUSTOMIZED CSA Box work?
A: Once you have purchased a subscription, a credit to cover the weeks' worth of boxes you have chosen will be loaded into your member account. Every week during the CSA season, we will send a weekly newsletter when the order window opens and what will be available in our bundle box (Members get the first crack at new seasonal items!) You will go to our website during the ordering window, select the bundle, and add it to your shopping cart. The Bundles will have the product options available and we assign a point value to each product (1 Bunch of Carrots = 2 points.) You can select items and quantities you want staying under the total of 30 points. Submit the order and credit will be deducted from your account. We will harvest your items and have them ready for pick up at the delivery location that you choose on Wednesdays! Note that all account credit must be used by the end of the CSA season by April 13th.
Q: What if I would rather have a pre-selected veggie box?
A: Each week we will have an option for a Customized box or a Farmer's Choice box for you to select!
Q: When is the window for placing orders?
A: Our order window for our CSA boxes is Friday morning to Sunday at Midnight. We will send out a weekly newsletter to our members to remind them to order for the week!
Q: How does the half-season or bi-weekly share work?
A: This subscription option gives you enough credit to purchase 11 weeks of boxes at an 8% savings off retail! The flexibility of our system will allow you to spread your boxes across the season when it works for you, whether you order every other week or just for the winter! Remember that you must use all credit by the end of our season on April 12th.
Q: What if I run out of account credit before the season ends?
A: You can re-up your credit by adding another CSA Subscription to your account at any time, or you can purchase items through the site by credit card.
Q: Are there limits to how many of a single item I can get?
A: Yes, We do set limits on limited-quantity items to ensure that members get a chance to order them if they choose, but that doesn't mean we won't run out of a particular item. So, try and get your orders in as early as possible during the order window for the best selection!
Q: Can I Order a Bundle Box if I am not a CSA Member?
A: Yes! Bundle boxes can be purchase like any other items in our online shop for $30, CSA membership just allows for a deep discount!
Q: What happens if I miss ordering for a week?
A: All orders must be placed weekly by the Order Deadline of Sunday at Midnight so that we have time to harvest process and pack orders. WE WILL NOT ACCEPT ORDERS AFTER THE DEADLINE. If you miss ordering for the week, the credit will stay in your account and you can use it for any items within our online shop during future order windows. Our CSA season lasts until April 13th, and ALL CREDIT MUST BE USED BY APRIL 13TH.
Q: Can I add more items on top of my box selections?
A: Yes, of course! However, note that if you utilize your account credit for add-ons you will not have enough credit to make it through the whole season. You can always add on extra credit down the road, or utilize another payment method for your add-ons.
